Open up Google. Click on 'more'. Click on 'maps'. Put in postcode or area name, or, simply double left click on the target area on the map to zoom in. When you get near to the area of interest, click on 'Satellite' (top right). The whole area is an aerial photographic view. Check out surrounding areas for factories, sewage works and so on. You can zoom in so far that you can actually see people walking about.

You can either check the area out on the internet or check the local paper internet connection.

Possibly contact a real estate agent. They should be able to answer questions you put to them, but they may not be able to tell you without you asking. Some ethics thing I believe.

CAMMY, CONTACTING THE LOCAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IS GOOD WAY TO FIND OUT ABOUT CERTAIN AREAS. THEY CAN SEND YOU INFO ABOUT THE AREAS. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I MYSELF HAVE BEEN LOOKING INTO MOVING TO ANOTHER AREA... JUST GO ON LINE TO YOUR WHITE OR YELLOW PAGES DIRECTORY'S AND THE COC'S ARE USUALLY LISTED IN THOSE ..GOOOD LUCK!!
