As in speaking from a scientific point of view. What mental changes need to be applied to the human mind in order to make one person grasp and apply knowledge, think more quickly and are who are more witty than another person? Is it the neural speeds between brain cells that make one smarter or is it elsewhere?

i already know that going to school makes you have more knowledge and are smarter than people who don't go to school, but that's not my question...some people are naturally more witty than other people, so what changes in the human mind allow them to be this way?

Breeding, prenatal care , nurturing, educational availability, sunshine, friends, water,
positive and loving, discipline and reinforcement.
good nutrition, responsibility. structure, self reliance
laughter.free will and guts. not necessarily in that order.
neural speed? uhhhh- beyond my comprehension. So anything I say is just part of the poll, right? I am pretty witty for sure..... my father is a pedophile and my mother is schizophrenic... I am
a guinea pig for every student in the world. go to therapy 1x every 6 mo. for a tweak and tune up. I have a great life!
that's guts and free will I think
I guess it falls under breeding ...not....lol

If you are speaking from a physical point of view, it is probably the way the neural paths are formulated that allow some people to access the region of the brain needed to perform the said task easier and quicker than others.

If you are asking qualitatively, it is not only the ability to know something faster (who raises their hand in class first) but also to know the same subject to a level of detail and depth that goes beyond what others know. Person is only only so-so with numbers understands why 2+2=4 but they may be completely lost as to a + b=c. An intelligent person is able to substitute letters for numbers and still see how the laws of mathmatics work in the abstract (a, b, c) as well as the real or concrete (2, 2, 4).

Also, a person may have different levels of intelligence in different areas. In other words, they could be great at numbers but lousy at grammar and sentence structure. A person could be great at grammar, sentence structure, and word choice, but lousy at understanding computers or plumbing, while a person who is good at computers or plumbing could be lousy at both English and/or Math (you can know the flowchart of how Windows XP works without knowing diddly squat about C++ or how such basic computer languages evolved, and thus relates to Windows XP).

I like to say an intelligent person is not someone who knows what's in this years textbook but someone who knows whats going to be in next year's textbook.

I think the speeds are going to be the same. When the person is young there are a lot of connections being made within the brain. Making sure kids get a lot of mental stimulation, e.g. puzzles, is a pretty good way to make them be smart when they get older.

good genes, proper nutrition, clean environment, stimulating educational atmosphere, intellectual challenges, internal motivation to achieve...just some of the things proven by research to contribute to intelligence. These all manifest in better-quality connections between neurons in the right places.

I think everyone can be smart, it justs takes effort. As long as you listen and pay attention at school. My friend said logic and common sense is what makes a person smart, I think that might be part of it.

Probably the ability to reason and sort out all of the info that they input into their own selves before they release the info in a logical manner.

I beleive that there is not a scientific answer.I just believe that everyone is comparable and that some of it could be due to early years stimulation.
