I've had my Roboviksi (spelling?) dwarf hamster over 2 weeks. I heard that "robos" dont usually bite. (of course like any creature they will nip at you)But he has been nipping me he doesnt bite hard or anything no blood comes out but I was just wondering is it because im waking him up? is it cause he is eating something and i touch him and he thinks im going to take his food (i know dogs do that)? I dont startle him or anything i call his name when i open the cage. i let him sniff me and everything. Is there a perticuar reason they nip at you besides being startled or woken up? he lets me pet him sometimes but other times not so much. Do u think its the soap im using? food on my hands that he smells? I know he is used to me by now cause most of the time i dnt have a problem with petting him just sometimes he nips.

your new pet is still getting used to his new home. And as tempting as it is to wake him up, dont. Hamsters are grumpy little buggers if they are disturbed whilst taking a nap. That really is the only reason why he is a little nippy. Let him wake on his own accord and then speak softly to him and offer him a treat. My syrian is as laid back and chilled as thay come and adores spending hours out of the cage playing, but he does not take kindly to being woken up. Hamsters are small creatures with poor eyesight and if startled when sleeping will go into defense mode. Its nothing personal.

2 weeks is just getting started on the bonding! and you may have a smell on your hands that triggers him to nip, but I would try yummy treats and only get him out when he is awake- If you wake him up he will be on alert that maybe it is something that is going to hurt him! And with all animals they do have their own ways and different time scale to adapt to new surroundings, but do not give up he will come around and be waiting for you every day for those pettings!

What do you propose, "If she sprayed them with fragrance"? Are you conversing relating to the hamster spraying the male along with her heady scent? Or someone? because of fact hamsters have gentle repiratory structures, and if somebody is spraying your hamsters with fragrance, it's going to kill them. and that i don't think of hamsters are waiting to spray their heady scent different than by using urination. adult males and girls of any hamster breed should not be jointly for extra desirable than breeding purposes. they'll kill one yet another, even dwarves. in the event that they're Syrian hamsters (additionally stated as "Teddy undergo" to industry to babies) then they certainly will combat to demise because of fact they could desire to be housed on my own. they are in a position to't even stay to tell the tale with yet another of an analogous gender. on the grounds which you stated you basically have been given them (and that i anticipate this is from Petsmart or Petco) they have 14 day return rules for any reason. on the grounds which you are able to't get yet another cage, return one. in case you decide directly to maintain the female, the two chains additionally grant loose vet shield the 1st fourteen days. sturdy element you caught this now. Use the a reimbursement to you to purchase a hamster care e book, because it style of feels, incredibly frankly, which you have not any clue relating to the fundamentals of hamster care. i'm sorry. And please whinge to the administrative relating to the girl that informed you the fake suggestions, so it does not take place to somebody else.
