I'm not demeaning the movement. I am a highly environmentally conscious conservative. I'm just wondering if high profile Democrats use it as a means to political ends. Do they really care?

Chris, you didn't really answer my question. I couldn't care less about the Oscar. In fact, he deserves it.. an Inconvenient Truth was a great film. I want to know if he really cares about the environment when you consider his hypocritical carbon footprint? Is he lining himself up politically to make a run for the White House?

dlgfgd: I do know what a carbon footprint is. It is a person's impact on the earth, the ecosystems, the atmosphere, the natural condition of our planet based on how much pollutants they are responsible for releasing. It is not rocket science.

Yes. Their goal is to publicize their environmentalism. They care in that their morals are superior than the common man. It doesn't matter how good they are as long as they appear good to others and themselves. We all know that only God is good and what we have that's good came from God.

Carbon footprint? I leave a carbon footprint by breathing, just like you do.

An inconvenient Truth is nothing more than an inconvenient lie!

President Bush's house in Crawford uses only 25% of the energy of the normal household. It is one of the most environmental friendly places in this country

Algore is nothing but a hypocrite that uses the environment as a means of getting power and money, period.

By the way, there is nothing wrong with the environment. The Earth cleanses itself 4 times a year. It don't need us screwing it up.

Years ago, the brilliant environmentalists decided the Kissimmee River in Florida was a mistake, that nature was dumb and needed help so they decided to channel the river. They took out all the bends etc and virtually made it straight with locks and everything.

Guess what. They didn't know a thing about what they were doing.

They found out the hard way that the river had been doing just what it should have been doing. Now after paying all that money to straighten out nature's mess, they have decided to let it go back to its natural course. Again costing us a fortune.

Just an example of man thinking he knows what's best.

Leave nature and the environment alone. They will do just fine on their own!

Democrats don't care about the environment. They really don't.

Examples:

ELF (Environmental Liberation Front) once burned down a whole forest in Colorado to make a point about the habitat of an owl.

Environmentalist demonstrations almost always leave behind an ungodly amount of litter and trash in the streets.

Al Gore owns how many homes now? And he powers them and keeps them all warm even though he lives in NONE of them while he's flying around the world in a private gulfstream promoting his new movie.

When was the last time you heard an environmental group complain about Lake Baikal? Nuclear plants in China? Pollution from oil spills around the Caspian Sea? Fertilizer plants in the Sudan? Isn't it always America that is at fault for polluting the world even though we have very nearly the world's highest environmental standards?

It would appear that he's been banging this drum for several decades - in that regard if he wins the Nobel Price then he deserves that too.

If he runs for the Whitehouse then he'll do so from a very impressive set of achievements - I've heard that it'll be in the Fall when he'll make his move if he's going to, because of the NP above.

There's also been a bit a backlash against this guy for his environmental credintials regarding his $30K elcetricity bill. He uses a green electicity supplier - so although it's a lot - there's not carbon, so it don't matter.

He claims he's purchasing offsets for his travel, so in his case I'd say no - and although he's not perfect (who is) he most certainly is not the son of Satan, He's in Office at the moment.

Today's environmentalists leave a huge socialist footprint right on the Constitution of the United States.

Yes all of the hot air coming out of their mouths contributes to global warming. All of hollywood leaves a bigger "carbon footprint" than most countries. Typical liberal BS

Of course not. Al Gore got an oscar, that's all he was looking for. He didn't even need to have a degree in science to do it.
