8th grade graduation...that was last year for me. I remember myself freaking out about what to wear lol.

Our graduation ceremony was held on the beach, so i wore a colorful sundress. It was maroon-ish with different stripes of beige, white and yellow. I've asked people on this site about how the dress looks and if i should wear it to graduation, and i've got some negative answers for it, so i was a little discouraged about wearing it. Luckily, i did wear it to graduation because i got tons of compliments from other people about how much they liked my dress. So, just wear what you like, because you just never know. You can stick to the basic little black dress, or some other basic dresses if you want to blend in with all your other classmates. But if you want to stick out and be recognized, i'd say wear something colorful and different than what everybody else is wearing.

We had a graduation ceremony on the beach and that night, we had a graduation dance at our school. Most people wore the same outfit, but i changed from my sundress to a black tank top with beads around the neckline and a black skirt and bronze 3-inch high heels. And again, i got loads of compliments. :) So, just, you know, wear what you'd like and have fun! That's all that matters. :)

My cousin's grad dress was yellow but not like a highliter color. It was like a baby chick/duck yellow and it was strapless but she wore a white/silver shawl over it and a little yellow sequined clutch.

There's 2 ways to think about it.
You could fit in w/ the other kids and wear a blue, white, beige, brown, pink, black that kind of dress with frills.

Or you could choose a yellow, orange, or green and other colorful choices to stick out.

I recommend a not too formal but pretty formal. I know it sounds stupid but you'll know when you see it. I also think the dress should come to about your knees.

And don't worry, it takes time to find your perfect dress. I recommend to start looking now, don't wait. It takes time.

Also, if you haven't worn dresses before, or heels, you should practice (I know it sounds silly but it helps!) wearing the dress and heels maybe just with your friends or on weekends at home in your backyard, so you can get used to it. That way, you won't look awkward on your grad nite.

Well, good luck! Hope I was helpful.

my 8th grade dance dress(not graduation dress) was a teal halter dress that hit the knee. it had a rouched top on the front that came together in a knot and it was a jersey material. i guess you should look for things that are about knee length, more or less. dont wear shiny satin or ruffles, because the dance isnt that formal.
