Could be your mouse.

If its an old ball mouse, look at the bottom section, undo the clip, and clean it out... especially the rollers. If its optical, look at the bottom section, and see if you have any fluff or hair in the optical sensor area. Ifs its laser (more expensive), unplug it, and again check the bottom section for for any fluff ect.

Also go to start > control panel (use classic view) > mouse > and here you can alter settings (speed ect) if necessary.

Also if its USB mouse, try putting it in a different USB port in the pc. If its battery powered (wireless) check your batteries or replace. It could also be that the mouse has just failed somehow... in which case consider a good Logitech optical mouse. GL.

Sometimes if you are using an optical mouse (one without a ball) then the surface that the mouse is on can be to shiney, this causes the light from the optical sensor to be reflected and can freak the mouse out. Try using a different mouse mat or even turn your present one upside down, or even use an old newspaper, anything that is not reflective.

It relies upon on whether it particularly is optical or one with a ball... it it particularly is optical, examine your mousepad, oddly adequate. whether it particularly is a reflective or plastic mousepad, this reflects the laser and would throw the mouse way off music. additionally, make constructive that the backside of the mouse is sparkling. If it particularly is one with a ball, sparkling out the ball and the interior the place the rollers are. additionally, make constructive that the mouse is plugged in properly. in case you nevertheless have not got any success, would I propose a sparkling mouse?

Bad or missing driver or: virus, spyware, etc. Laptops often have this problem because of the TouchPad, you may have to disable it in the Device Manager.

If a tower, go to the mouse manufacturer's website and install the latest drivers FIRST. Then test for nasties.
