i don't think so, there actions have proven so also, seems to me the american gov is just to dumb to acknowledge this fact.
they don't allow our troops to hot pursuit people over the border, they don't pursue the extremist groups on thier own, and they were a supporter of the taliban before 9/11
to me pakistan will be another typical "ally" of america, like iran was before 1979, iraq was during the 80's, the taliban and every other extremist group was during the afgan soviet invasion, and heck, we even consider saudi arabia our "friends" but yet they don't even come close to our democratic ideals.

our political arena seems to be full of idiots these days, we accept Pakistan as a ally when we know they are shielding O,B,L, even tho I doubt seriously he had anything to do with the bombing of the W,T,C, as our experts have said recently that the video that was supposedly made by OB.L. was looking very much like a forgery, now who would do thing like that???
our gov, claims Israel is our ally? yet look at what all they have did against the U,S, and if these videos turn out to be forgery's who do you think is the worlds best at counter Intel? and the most capable of forging something of this nature, after all we did get rid of their worst enemy on their Intel, and now it appears this Intel, was also false, will there be a investigation? NO, and even if there was they would buy off the investigators, and nothing would be done about it , another reason we need to ban all forgein lobbyest, such as AIPAC,and make it against the law to print lies, instead of retractions which is always on the last page of the used car sales section in our new;s papers,no one see's

No they are not an ally. They will turn on us the minute that we stop the funding that we have been giving them for the assistance in the "war on terror". After all, Osama Bin Laden is definitely known to be hiding in western Pakistan. How come the cannot get him? It seems to me that they have no real interest in doing this.
