I need to know how he can be known as a hero but yet he was the reason why the bloods were started? I know that it sounds double standers but yet he is known now for the work he has done in tryen to fight crime. Is it just because he went to prison and had a guilty complex or was he tryen to do the right thing when his gang first started. Im not putting the man down cause he had a good cause while he was alive behind bars but dose it hit a person all at once when there behind bars that they say " Dam I Really F- -ked Up".

After seeing a prison interview with Tookie, I came to admire him. Little tidbit: he somewhat overinflated his roots to the beginning of his gang. That's okay.

Some people are transformed by startling events in their lives. I think this is what happened with him. But instead of sitting in his cell and brooding (after his "Damn, I f***ed up" phase), he took action. He became an outspoken critic of gangs and did what he could to convince young people to avoid them.

He didn't 're-form' as much as we wanted, but you cannot dispute the sincerity of his vision. That is what makes him a hero in my eyes.

Perhaps he was trying to do good in some ways. But he never admitted to his murders or apologized to his victims. All his books were dedicated to murderers. He's not a hero. He may have become a somewhat better man in prison, but he didn't become a good man.
