Can anyone tell me how to turn an MP4 file on a Mac to an MP3 file? I'm trying to use my music files for other things and it won't read them as an MP4 file. Any help would be appreciated.

In your iTunes preferences, go to "Advanced" and click on the "Importing" tab. For the "Import Using:" drop-down, select "MP3 Encoder." Click "OK."

Drag your MP4 files into iTunes. Select them all. (If you have a large library with AAC or other file types, it may help to go into View - View Options and click "Kind" to display file types, then click on the header of the "Kind" column to sort by kind and find all MPEG files in one place.) You can click the first file and hold down shift when you click the last file to select all those in between.

Now go to the "Advanced" menu in iTunes, and select "Convert Selection to MP3."

This will not work for DRM-protected MP4 files.
