ultrasounds are never 100% when it comes to determining the sex of the baby. there is NOTHING wrong with having a little boy when your sis is!! then they can be close and hang out, play sports together, ect. at one of my ultrasounds they thought that my lil girl was a boy, so predicted that i would have 2 boys (twins). but found out later just the umbilical cord was between her legs lol so found out a few weeks after that its a boy and a girl. but just be happy if the baby is healthy, boy or girl.

They can't tell you for sure because unless it was a really good scan (ie. baby in perfect position, not crossing it legs or moving about too much) then they can't give you a 100% yes or no on the sex. You'll probably get another chance to find out later on in the pregnancy, but if they told you it was a boy at 20 weeks then start planning for a boy, don't paint the nursery blue and put footballs all over, but just be ready, have a boy's name picked out and don't be disappointed if you don't get a girl. Genetics is tricky that way, doesn't always give you what you want. Get lots of unisex stuff to begin with, then more sex specific after you know for sure or the baby's born. Which ever's first. Congradulations and good luck.

Its very hard to say. I hope they are right for your sake, because I have heard a lot of people that were fooled, and that would not be fun. Usually the technicians have a fairly good idea, I just wouldnt go to crazy on boy stuff for right now. They did the same thing to me. I am now 39 weeks. I had an ultrasound at 19 1/2 weeks, they said 90% sure it was a girl. The guy showed me one leg, then a big empty space, and then another leg. So it even looked like a girl to me compared to my friends boy ultrasounds. Then my doctor told me that at that far along, if something was going to be there between her legs, it would have been there by then. Anyways, I hope they are right for you. And me too, because I did go all out and bought everything pink.

ultra-sound scans cant give 100 % accuracy when it comes to the sex of a baby. In my experience with my wife we have always asked to find out and in every case its been right so far however there is a margin where mistakes can be made. Even if you do have a little boy the same as your sister then that shouldnt make any difference. Count every baby as a blessing, we fortunate people are lucky to have children when so many people cant have a natural child.

Ive been told that either way even if they are 100% sure of the sex of your baby they will never say, usually choosing to say instead things such as "we think its a girl/boy but we're not totally sure" or "It looks like you're having a girl/boy but we couldnt be certain". If they tell you they are 100% sure it'd possibly make them liable if it turns out you are having a baby of the opposite sex that they told you. If they think its a boy then Id say most likely it is going to be a boy. If they really couldnt tell they'd ahve said what they say when they geniunely dont know, that being "we really honestly cant see from the babys position" Goodluck

A difficult one but unfortunately someone no one can really answer.

If the sonographer says that they can't tell properly because of the position of the baby then I'm afraid you'll have to wait until you deliver.

Some women can tell what they are having when they are pregnant. I'm currently pregnant and I have this sense that I am having a girl, the sonographer told me she was 90% sure I was and showed me what she thought was the baby's 'lady lips' - looks abit like a hamburger!!!!

Do you have any strong feelings about the sex of your baby?

Sonographers are told not to tell people that they are 100% sure what they are having.

well, you shouldn't hope for one or the other, but with my daughter who is now 5, they told me they "think" it was a girl and it was. I am going in for my 20 week scan in two weeks and I hope they can tell me.
You can always request another one if you can afford it. Usually it's about 80-90 dollars

They can never be 100% sure. But if they say it is a boy, it is more accurate than if they say it is a girl as it is easier to spot. Congratulations on a healthy child either way.

It probably is a boy, they will never say 100% in case they are wrong.

If they definately didnt know, they would not have said anything,I think you can safely say its a boy.
