I know that "hijab" applies to both sexes, but the question and my response only apply to women.

I have heard that many women actually enjoy wearing it. Therefore, I believe it should be a choice, but that women should be able to - or required to - reveal their faces when appropriate for identification and security. I am against the hijab's enforcement by men. In places where it is forced on women who had once had a choice, there is the appearance that the men enforcing hijab consider women ugly and unworthy of being seen, and that the women accepting this treatment have no voice. This might come about because in many societies where such a judgement would be made, hiding one's face or body is considered a behavior resulting from shame. As women showing modesty have certainly done nothing wrong, I would say that the strongest western opinion against the hijab probably resulted from misunderstanding. p.s. - I edited my original answer because someone thought I was saying the hijab itself was shameful. Sorry that I was not clear - no offense intended.

What is an open ion? What is "he gab"?

Remove this question. Then figure out what you're asking, type it carefully, spell check, and proof it, to see if it makes sense.

Then add the details you need to make the question clear and intelligible.

I'm guessing you're asking our opinions on something, but I don't know what "the he gab" is.

One answerer guessed you meant the coverings many Muslim women wear -- is that what you're asking about? (That person is wrong, BTW, it's not about shame, but about respect and protection from unwanted male attention -- you can't stare at a women's chest when you can't see it, if you follow.)

Hijab = the covering muslim women wear over their head / hair.

Many people, both male and female cover their hair as a sign of respect.

Muslims do it -- Sikhs do it -- women inside a catholic church do it.

If a person chooses to cover their hair in respect to their god -- then leave them alone. It doesn't affect the rest of us and is none of our business.
