Loosing a pet is one of the hardest things on earth. You spend alot of time with them they are devoted unconditional love it is not abnormal in my eyes. I am sorry for your loss of both your friend and pet. A pet depends on you daily you see daily what you are feeling is normal my heart goes out to you

For me the loss is worse for the friend, even tho losing a pet is devistating. The love for a pet is so great it almost like loving a person. But a person is a person - with hopes and dreams to accomplish.

If you have a pet - you know that their only purpose was to love you and be loved. When they die, you know they died accomplising what they came here to do: To love you and be loved and bring you temporary happiness.

When a person dies - it's more tragic, because most people die before they have a chance to fulfill their dreams, and their purpose here on earth. Not to mention, it hurts the people they leave behind.

The other thing is, pets don't fear death. They don't believe in God or fear hell if they weren't a "good pet".

People, no matter who they are, fear death, which means the last few moments of their life, they were probably in more terror anyone could imagine, about to face death - the unknown. In that split second before their life ends, they are terrified more than we could ever know, wondering "whats going to happen to me" or probably even thinking: "Oh God, Please don't let me die! Not now! I never got a chance to.............. Please give me one more chance" and then.... it's over. And those were probably their last thoughts. No matter what the Dr's tell you. They will lie and say: "They never knew what hit them" or "They didn't suffer" even tho they probably really did - Dr's tell you that to make YOU, the people left behind feel better.

So A pets death is hard, but for me, a friend I only knew for a few months would bother me as much as if I'd known them longer because they were a person with a life of hope and dreams to accomplish, and the sad thing is, every time you see a sunset, you realise, your dead friend will never see a sunset again. Any time you go on vacation somewhere beautiful, your friend will never have that chance to go there again, if you both were single, when you get married, your dead friend will never get a chance to know what thats like, and when you have children, your dead friend will never know that special kind of love and happiness.

A new guy moved into my class a few months ago and i've had a cat for 8 years, but i think a human death would be more tragic especially when the pet at seven would have lived a long life.

But im really sorry to hear about your pet and this is my opinion.

First, I'd like to express my sorrow for you having to endure these two losses.
You didn't have near the time to get attached to and learn your friend completely the way you knew your dog. You shouldn't feel guilty for grieving for each in your own way. Your pet was part of the family. I totally understand that.

Death of a pet. Cry over the pet. Why? Friends will come and go, pets will stay. Pets are much worse. Compassion for pets will never die, compassion for pets shall stay.

pet, since hes more like a family, but a friend youv only known for a couple of months don't really fit into a 'friends' category unless you did almost everything together.

I wouldn't put much thought into it. If you cried over your pet and not your friend that's o.k. apparently your pet meant more to you.. that's fine don't feel bad. Just because your friend was a human don't mean his death was a bigger deal than your pets.

I lost a dog too and I cried non stop for two days! Your dog was part of your family. I know human life is more precious but to loose a family member is much more heartbreaking for me.
