how often should i perform water changes on a ten gallon tank with 4 platies and a small peacock eel? i am now doing weekly 20% changes while cleaning the gravel at the same time.

i do the same percentage and weekly on a 5 gallon with one betta, one oto catfish, and two ghost shrimp

Does this sound good?

Thanks

Water changes should be performed the same for any size tank. You are doing it perfect.

I clean my 29 gal. tank once a month. Change the filter, and half the water. my fish do great. Sometimes I get a little algae on the walls, so I just use a magnet to get rid of it between cleanings.

What you are doing is fine. The only time that more frequent water changes would be necessary is if you added more fish.

Sounds extremely good--I admire your tenacity. These things are that extra that helps aquariums to thrive.-----I'm not keeping any now----I changed roughly 20% every month unless something happened to necessitate an earlier change.
