I did my 11+ after being graded a B, aka Borderline.
I passed and studied at grammar school for 7 years, where I did my GCSEs and A-Levels. I loved it.
Kent is one of the few places where this is common practice.

I took the 11+ and later on the 13+. For those puzzled passing meant you could go to a Technical College or Grammar School. It was resat as the 13+ at the age of 13 to see if you were up to the standards required. If you failed, then you went to a secondary school.
Technical for engineers etc.
Grammar for teachers and doctors etc.
Secondary for the manual workers etc.

Hi!
I was a Secondary Mod and proud of it!!
Besides, the Secondary Mod had a better teaching reputation than the local Grammar School!!
We even had girls who went to the Grammar School transfer over to our school!!
Still, today, my kids homework is well beyond me!! LOL!!!

Took the 11+ when I was ten, and passed it, went to grammar school a year younger than everyone else in the school, and had a ******* hard time of it as a result, I might say. Passed GCE O level English Language at 13, left at 15, and have never had a decent job in my life. Don't work at all now. Pretty smart, huh?

No, didn't pass the eleven plus exam, I went to a Secondary Modern school in the 60's, but it didn't do me any harm, I've had a good life and am financially secure, working for myself, I owned my own restaurant for twenty years! I've also seen lots of the world, travelling all over! Still like the heels Liz.XX

I passed my 11+ and went to a big Comprehensive in Coventry. My parents were not impressed because my brother and sister went to grammar school. Always was the black sheep.
