Synopsis: I have a Geocites Plus site. I have been doing my site creation for years using MS Publisher. Just put together my first web forms. Publisher automatically makes all of the correct HTML connections, and gives you a submit button to place. It gives 3 options as to where the data should be sent, one of which is to an email address. I selected that option, and filled in all the questions and responded to the prompts.

The site files and the forms are there on screen and the typing and list box functions are allowing text entry and item selection, etc.... But when I depress the "submit" button, I get the dreaded "page you are looking for does not exist" message.

In as plain a version of English as you can muster, could some kind, knowledgable soul suggest a course of action?

My thanks in advance.

In order for Publisher's built-in forms to work, your site must have FrontPage extensions installed and enabled.

Geocities Plus does not provide FrontPage extensions. Therefore, Publisher's built-in forms won't work.

You have two options, each unattractive: 1. Find a Web host that does support FrontPage extensions; 2. Use the systems Geocities has to send e-mail from a form, which you probably won't be able to customize to your liking.

Note to previous answerers: If you don't know, please don't answer.

Note to answerer below: It has everything to do with FrontPage extensions. In Publisher, you can create forms that will send e-mail using a wizard. The wizard requires your server to use FrontPage extensions in order to work.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher/HP030661491033.aspx

Click the "I haven't received any data in my form" link

It states, in part:

"If your data is being sent to you in e-mail, verify the following:

* Your Internet service provider supports Microsoft FrontPage version 3.0 or later server extensions."

You should avoid making statements that are easily proven wrong, lest you want to be considered a moron. I know what I am talking about. I am an expert at everything involved in what this person wants to do. This person needs to host a stite with FrontPage extensions enabled in order to use the built-in Publisher forms.

Log on to your site live on the internet. Right click on any inactive area on the page with the problem. Select "View Source".
Find the HTML code around the button you have trouble with. See where it is directed to in the tag.
If you cannot get Geocities to accept it, you should be able to ask a more detailed question.
Also the Notepad listing can be saved and attached to emails etc. you might put with your question.

The source code you actually want to see is in the

... Perhaps there's a web page in there that processes the form. Maybe you haven't uploaded that web page?

If your browser is giving you a "page you are looking for does not exist", it's most likely because there's either something you didn't upload, what you uploaded is possibly CaSe SeNsItIvE, or Geocities did not permit you upload it.

Good luck!

It's nothing to do with frontpage extensions! For the form to function and send mail it needs to run server-side code . You can't do this by just creating something in Publisher, making the HTML connections and publishing it, period.
