the silk road was in the middle ages when the europeans wanted to go china and india to trade for silk and spices because they had them, the silk route waz basically through europe , across middle east , and into china and india, some transportation waz walking or on horses
maybe even on boat but they had to go all the way around africa and that trip took 3 years

it was a road connecting ancient china and rome that increased silk trade mainly. At the time the chineese were the only ones who knew how to breed silkworms.
