I rinse out every day in the shower with plain warm water, about a quart. I think everything is OK, but my sister says she can smell me, even if I'm not having/had my period.
I'd prefer to not use anything artificial or heavy perfume to just cover it up. Like some people think deodorant is a substitute for a shower.

Ok for starters it is not good to douche all it does is push any bacteria that you may have back up in your vagina. Second washing down there with just gentle soap is good enough. Your body naturaly secrets vaginal juices that naturaly clean you out. As for the smell you could have a yeast infection. Not all yeast infections show the normal signs and symptoms. I would check with your doc and see if that is what is causing the smell. Also it could be the chemicals in the washing detergent you use and the natural chemicals in your body that do not mix well. Like a perfume on your skin does not smell the same on everyone.

I actually saw Dr. Oz on Oprah a few weeks ago and an audience member inquired about douching. The dr said that douching was actually unnecessary since we have an automatcially cleansing system (on inside :) And douching can actually rid the body of the good bacteria needed. If you are having a strong odor even after bathing (though soap can be quite irritating so perhaps can just use warm water), please do talk with your gynecologist as you may have an infection needing antibiotics or whatnot. Take good care

Try using a douche of water mixed with mild vinegar ... usually the regular 'clear' vinegar sold at the grocery store works best, and put about 1/8 cup of vinegar into one (1) cup (8 ounces) of water. You should use 'cool' water, too, not 'warm' because that 'warmth' can cause bacterial growth, and you 'douche' to keep yourself 'clean' and 'good smelling.' And 'douche' only one time per week ... you may do yourself 'harm' if you are 'douching' every day, even with just plain warm water.

And that's the reason why you shouldn't douche. Your vagina is self-cleaning - that's what that discharge is all the time. That discharge also forms a protective layer against bad bacteria. When you douche you wash that away and bacteria can grow much more easily. The bacteria makes the bad smell. You may now need to see your doctor to be treated for bacterial vaginosis.
Don't douche!

Docs say to stay away from douche's they interfere with the normal ph balance in the vagina and can make you susceptable for an infection. If you continue to have a unpleasant odor, talk to a doctor, you might have an infection.
