How long do I have to wait until I can touch my hamsters babies?

Also when will I be safe that she won't eat any more of them?
I think she ate one. I think I scared her when I fed her last night.:(

They are 3 days old today

I don't think there is any really good answer to this. You have to clean out the cage every week so you kind of need to be able to touch them when you clean. You can't have them living in a dirty environment. When my hamster P.I.T.A. had her babies I was able to touch them the day we realized she had them, when my sisters hamster had babies, we looked at them and the mom would eat them (all three litters).

So I would say just wash your hands thoroughly and take the mom out first. Also if the dad is still in there that might be causing her to eat them. Do the best you can. Sorry if this doesn't help and more of your little hamsters get eaten. How many did she have? Have you counted yet?

You should not touch the hamster's babies until they are 'furry' and don't 'nurse' (suck on their mothers teats for their food) ... and you didn't 'scare her' when you fed her to cause her to eat one of her babies ... hamsters to that if there is something 'wrong' with the baby, or if they have 'too many' babies ... and so do most animals, by the way, not just hamsters. It's NORMAL for them, so don't 'worry' about the babies.

do no longer touch the toddlers for @ least 2 weeks. additionally, provide mama hamster as plenty peace & privateness as achievable. Hamster mothers tend to be apprehensive & could abandon or harm their toddlers in the event that they sense threatened or under pressure.
