Why is it if an elected official is guilty of a crime he still collects his pension?

I see Lawyers -congressman--Senators and poitically ellected officials found guilty of crimes and servetime in jail and they still collect their pensions and keep their benefits. ?? Meanwhile if a police officer does the same he is stripped of his pension and benefits . I am refering to the same type of crime and same length of time involved in it. Could this be because politicians get to pass the lawas that benefit them?????

Are you certain they still receive their pension? I'm not certain at all, & just curious if you are sure or if someone relayed this info to you without actual proof.

If it is in fact correct , you would be correct it's because they are responsible for passing the laws, & most of us citizens don't pay much attention to what's going on as we have our lives to distract us.
