It is a lot of Marker, and i don't know how to make the color stay through the wash without bleeding (major concern) or fading...any sure-fire ideas?

I've made clothing with Sharpie many times, and the only way I've found to make it stay is to go over it whenever it gets kind of faded. As far as I know, there are no chemical solutions that make Sharpie more permanent. Perhaps you could try that chemical that is used to help tye-dye colours set in (Soda ash) , or purchase markers that are designed for staying in fabrics, like these.

Put a piece of cardboard under the shirt and let it sit for an hour before you put it in the wash.

not sure about the bleeding. if you wash it by itself the first time, you'll wash it in, so you have no chance of it coming out. and it might fade over a few months. but not immedeatly

umm, it should probably stay, just don't wash it with other stuff that is important/expensive. next time, though, i would use the sharpies made for fabric. ♥
