My mom is over=protective sometimes and she signed me up for self-defense classes, i even have my own personal trainer. I dont want to sound like a self-conceited spoiled brat and i really appreicate that she really cares for my health and my life but i really dont want to go to class, i start on tues.

I want to say i dont want to go and trust me, if i dont want to go, i will spit it out and tell it to the whole world but for some reason, i cant say "mom, i dont want to go to self-defense class". Maybe its because my mom was in an abusive relationship before and i dont want to sound like i dont care, so i should go right?

Wrong. You should go. Every woman needs to learn some self defense techniques. Your mom is giving you the right advice and leading you in the right direction.

as a young lady you should go and learn how to defend yourself...You should be so glad your mother loves you enough to make sure that you are safe and well aware of the dangers you will have to be aware of for the rest of your life.. You have no clue what the real world is like... take it from a rape survivor. I hope you take the class learn from it and stay safe.....

Why don't you try one class see how it is and then after that if yo didn't like it enough to want to go back tell her that. She shouldn't get mad at you, maybe even look into another sport or something you would be happier with and suggest it as an alternative ...

If I were in your position, I would love it. My dad wouldn't let me take Karate b/c I was a girl. Women need to know more than anyone how to defend themselves. Men are stronger than us and will take advantage of us. With the training you will get, you will always know how to protect yourself from these predators out there. I think you might just thank your mother one day for recommending this. I'll take your place! lol!

You definitely should go. You never know when you might need that training. Also, it is going to be more fun than just going to a gym and working out. Your own personal trainer? Wow. Go for it.

Try it at least one time, then if you still don't like it you'll have a first hand reason as to why you didn't like it. And you'll be able to tell her so... and if you like it, stay in and learn how to protect yourself from all the weirdo's and evil people out there.

Yes, I think you should at least give the class a try. You may enjoy it. Face it every woman should know how to defend themselves.

If an average size man attacks you, your training will mean nothing. I have never known women to be very violent. So what's the deal? Get a man to protect you.

Okay, let the raging feminist attack on me begin. I said men are stronger than women.
