I HAVE ALWAYS FANTASIZED TAKING A TRIP IN A HIGH TECH SPACE SHIP LIKE STAR TREK WHERE YOU CAN GO TO DIFFERENT PLANETS AND EXPLORE. HEY MAYBE ONE ALREADY EXITS WITHIN US OR RUSSIAN GOVERNMENTS TOP SECRET AREAS. FOR FURTHER DISCUSSIONS VISIT MY BLOG AT HTTP://LQQKHERE.BLOGSPOT.COM.

I know that your question is simply and ad for your blog, but still.

Perhaps some day? Perhaps.

Now? No way.

The Enterprise is huge. Submitting something so big to the accelerations that are "common" on the show would break it apart on the first trip.

What saves them on the show is that they "warp" space in such a way that each individual piece is accelerated by space itself. As long as each piece is accelerated at (very close to) the same rate at all the other pieces INCLUDING the people inside, then the ship could stay together.

I added "very close to" because they use inertial dampeners which distribute the acceleration inequalities among all parts of the ship to reduce stress.

You'll note that accelerations are far smoother in "The New Generation" where, I suspect, computers are much faster and powerful: they are able to distribute the acceleration inequalities to all individual atoms, including all atoms inside all individuals (that is why they are not flung around when the ship has to take sudden turns).

Well, it would be possible to build a ship "like" star trek, however, we do not have even close to the technological capabilities that the show portrays. We still have yet to attain light speed (which with our current understanding of physics is impossible) and even at the speed of light it would take several decades to reach the nearest star. Let alone a viable, life equipped solar system. Potentially, through the study of spontanious appearance in quantum physics, we may be able to use dimensional travel to "teleport" to other locations... although this is only theoretical at best. Essentially, with our understanding of the universe, we will never have warp speeds, but that doesnt mean faster than light travel is impossible (look at quantum entanglement)

If Nasa already had such a spaceship wouldn't they be using it on the New Horizons mission to Pluto? not spend 9.5 years getting there?

i read recently that there are plans to build a base on the moon in the next 25 years. if they're doing that, then the idea of having a "Starship Enterprise" floating around must be in someone's head. its just a matter of time.

Extraterrestrials already have such a starship, but they haven't bothered us because of their Prime Directive.
