When I was a hostess this happened a lot! Not to sound mean, but some people just aren't that "observant" or "swift on the uptake" if you know what I mean! Some people simply aren't that smart. Even though it may frustrate you, find the humor in the situation, and have a chuckle!

Maybe because the dirt one is at a better location - like near a window or something. Usually nicer placed tables get used all the time, and customers will sit by other tables only if the nice ones are taken.

Im a waitress as well, and my theory is they enjoy pissing you off. They know that since the table is dirty you're going to have clean it off which will piss you off and make you not want to wait on them and in return, they don't have to tip good. Maybe Ive spent too much time thinking about this annoying thing that happens a million times a day. And why do they HAVE to sit at a certain location in the restaurant? The food is going to taste the same regardless.

SO TRUE !!
I can't tell you how often this happens to me at work while I'm there alone and have to do the busing myself for the ONLY dirty table in the house with plenty of other options !!
How about the ones who need a booth instead of a table??
Do they have a booth at their house, they are so used to it!!??
WTF??

I say that's extra effective than having a mom who has a table which you won't be able to even discover as a results of fact it is so cluttered with junk and a paper path 24 hrs an afternoon. in case you should make huge brownie factors with mom tell her you delight in it that she likes issues so neat. she would be able to ask your self what the heck you're as much as in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it will make her day. i'm a mom and that i understand this thinking.( smile).

The customers gets their kicks out of making your life miserable. If you get a customer like that, you are in for a measly $2.00 tip if that.

Because that is where the customer wants to sit. If the server is on to of the game, they will have it cleaned before a customer gets to it.
