Hi all I am connected to my wireless router. I have a usb wireless adapter on my desktop. My question is..is there anyway to see if I have any other connection options besides my wireless router? If so how do I check? A friend told me to unplug my router than check, but I'm lost lol. I went into my internet connection and it says my adapter is connected and so is my router. It says my Lan is unplugged which it should be. Thanks!

Your questoion was kind of confusion and I am guessing you are Using windows since you didnt mention another OS. Basically there are different ways to connect, hardwired directly into your modem or router, or wireless. if you connect wirelessly when you click on the icon down by your clock there is a icon that says "view available wireless connections" depending on your surroundings there can be other wireless connections available from a neighbor, or another office near you. From that screen you can choose which you want to connect to and also set the priority of which connections you want to connect to first everytime your computer connects.

If you router has more than two square network connections in the back, then you can use either wireless or wired connections.

The router will have one connection, usually called the WAN port, to connect to the modem. It may then have one or more LAN ports. If it does have one, then you can connect your computer using a network cable to the router.

Your computer (laptop or desktop) should also have a network port to connect into the LAN port of the router. If it doesn't, then you'll have to use the wireless connection or add a network card.
