I am lucky enough to travel the world in my job. If i come to your country what would be the best dish you would suggest I try, and if you can name a restaurant then all the better! I Know your Mum is the best cook in the world so unless she is going to invite me where else should I try?
I'm from the UK so I know about our food. But if your UK based tell me about the best places overseas you have eaten in.
Best answer will be the one with the best description of the dish and where to find the best example of it.
All genuine answers will get a 'thumbs up' from me!
Thanks Guys!

Countries: England and India

Dish: Pie and Mash with liquor.(England)

Pie and mash originates from around the 17th Century and started with the eel houses that sold stewed and jellied eels.

It consists of a minced beef (normally) pie served with mashed potato and liquor (pale green parsley sauce often made using some of the juices from the stewed eels - but it doesn't taste of fish!) but in some shops you can have gravy as an alternative.

While it's no unusual delicacy, Pie and mash is one of the original fast foods. And it represents good traditional East London history without Jack the Ripper. In a good shop you can get 2 pies and 2 mash instantly but you'd wait a few minutes for McDonalds.

Dish 2 (India).

It's tempting to reccommend you a Bhang Lassi but I won't.
A Lassi is basically a smoothie made from yoghurt and ice. Bhang Lassi has a load of grass mixed in to it. A powerful one will make you almost unconscious in about 20 minutes. Avoid unless you want to lose your Travellers Cheques.

You can get coffee lassi in a cafe in the centre of Anjuna market in Goa (on a Wednesday). Get the boat from Baga, it takes about 5 minutes.

or

At Baga Saturday Night market there is a German chef that does THE best Thai spring rolls with a garlic and chilli dressing. He has his own shop too but I can't remember where. To get to this market from Baga: cross the creek to the side where Sunset cafe (best breakfast cafe!) and Nani and Rani's is (use the bridge if the water is too high!) and walk along the creek/ river, go past the italian restaurant on the left and walk straight down you'll find the night market on the right. From a distance it looks and sounds like something from Apocalypse Now.

Enjoy.

UK) One of the best dishes I have had is fish and chips there is a great place in Brighton on the pier that does fabulous fish and chips and you can eat in the restaurant or buy them in paper and find a bench to sit on. From either spot you can watch the ocean while you sit there and eat.

Well, I live in the U.S. and I work at Wayne's Drive Inn in Lawton Oklahoma. It's been around since 1950 and I'd have to say it is a really good restaurant. it is cheeseburgers and hot dogs and fish and chicken and stuff like that. It's fast food, so it isn't the best for you but it tastes good! Enjoy!

Here in the Canaries, we have a local fish called "Vieja", it is a mouth watering, light fish which is best served with garlic, canarian potatoes and salad. You also have dips to accompany which are called "mojo rojo & mojo verde" they are tasty too - the rojo being a little hotter.
Great for vegetarians who eat fish as there isn't alot for vegetarians here unless you stick to english cusine.
Do try it if you get the chance - but be careful with the bones.

In china, there's this sort of traditional breakfast that consists of fried bread sticks and sort of a chinese pie. I cant describe it well because you can't even describe it in chinese really well without using the name. You can usually buy it off the streets in the morning. They are these lond, breadlike, fried sticks. Its usually half an arm thick. Sorry if you still cant understand what I'm saying. If you ever go to china, you can just ask for Shao Bing Yo Tiao.

Well there is alot of good dishes from my country too many to list.. So I will mention a few foods you absolutely HAVE to try if you come here to Canada!
Poutine.. consists of french fries, gravy and mozzarella cheese curds.. very bad for you health wise but its tastes soo good! Best served in Quebec or Ontario its available at almost every restaurant.
Blueberry Pie.. has to be made with fresh picked wild blueberries which you can buy almost anywhere in Ontario Canada during the summer/fall months.
Butter Tarts.. a purely Northern Ontario treat it is brown sugar, cornsyrup, coconut, vinegar, nuts, eggs etc all baked in pastry tart shells. MMMMM.. soo good! trust me you dont taste the vinegar but it is the secret ingredient that makes them the best! If you eat a butter tart it HAS to be homemade not store bought(eww) you can get them at most little bakeries or coffee shops in Ontario especially Northern Ontario.
Smoked Deer or Moose sausage also has to be homemade but you can get them from almost anyone you meet in Northern Ontario who I can assure you will be happy to share just ask any Northerner and they will run to get you some...and some butchers sell their own. My mom makes the best..lol

Bear roast with carrots and potatoes... if you try this it HAS to be cooked by someone who knows what they are doing otherwise it sucks. if you come to Canada visit a hunting lodge in Northern Ontario, its a good bet if they put up bear hunters they serve some bear at the lodge. East Bull Lake Wilderness Resort will have it for sure, you can look them up online.

Partridge.. (ruffed grouse) also a favorite dish in Canada especially Northern Ontario where it is a favorite game bird, any way you cook it it is good, once again though you would have to get it from someone because it isnt sold. One thing about Northern Ontario Canada is we have alot of hunters and they like to share especially with tourists..
Finally I have to add Habitant yellow Pea soup to the list it is sold in cans at the grocery store but it is soo good and homemade and it is the best pea soup ever!!
Oh and dont forget if you come here you have to get some maple syrup its the best if you go to a sugar bush you can see how its made and have "tire d'érable sur la neige" which is just maple syrup on snow but it is the most delicious thing you can imagine!!

Hinkali is one of Georgian national dishes, a sort of dumpling filled with meat, black pepper and spices.
Especially interesting is the way it should be consumed. One should take it for the top, and with other hand pinch it in the middle so the steam can go out from inside. Then, one should suck the juice from inside, and then eat everything else, but not the very top...it's delicious and I love it!
