As stated above, it will wind up costing about as much as a brand name computer. The upshot being that if you don't have a ton of cash, you can buy it a peice at a time. Also you can find uber deals on motherboards and video cards, sometimes get way better than you would in a store bought, for about the same price.

I don't know, if you have to ask this question, it's probably not the best idea to try it. In most cases, it's going to cost you around the same price as just going out and buying a factory built PC. Granted, I build my own, and it is nicer not having to uninstall all the sponsored programs that are installed on the factory PCs, but that isn't extremely difficult.

Building your own PC is fun, though. If you feel the itch to do it, ask a friend who knows something about it, or buy a book on the subject, but make sure to have a good grasp on how everything goes together, and what each piece functions for, and make a list of everything you need before you go out and buy the parts for it.

It's an involved task, good luck with it!

The following link tells you about making a computer http://www.pcmech.com/byopc/step/1/

However I wouldn't advise making your own, it will cost more than buying one ready built because of the components that you need to build one.

Good luck
