Let's see... I am a retired electrical engineer. I consider that a "major career." When I retired about 18 years ago, my salary at that time was $65,000.00/year.

Where I live, which is a major U.S. city, sanitation workers make $70,000.00/year. Construction workers make upwards of $50,000.00/year... and Registered Nurses can make $100,000.00/year.

Does $27,876/year sound like a good deal to you?

That is not enough to live off from. You would not be able to have a nice house or live nicely. When I get a job I want to make over $150,000 a year. The lowest I will go for is $60,000.

It depends on the job and what is required of you, but if you have no experience you have to start somewhere, so I would say this figure is not too bad.
