Pretty successful, if by that is meant changing the laws so as to give minority groups equal treatment.
Less successful, of course, in changing people's attitudes.
But even attitudes have altered a fair amount over the years (I was a kid in the 50s, so I have a personal basis for comparison.)
There's still a lot of prejudice. bias and intolerance around - there probably always will be. Some people seem to need to have someone, based on some "difference", to look down on.
But over the past 50 years, a lot has changed for the better.
