Well, I wouldn't spend the money just yet. I'm sure the bank will notice it's mistake and correct the deposit. But I wouldn't tell them, God knows thy wouldn't tell you if you had put a decimal point between the 8 and the 0.

Yes it is legal, but it is a mistake and they will find out and take the money out. It is not yours. If you start writing checks against that money, you will bounce a lot of checks.
You should contact the bank first thing on Monday and let them know of the mistake. They may give a small reward, but probably not.

Spending the money is illegal. You can get in trouble for that. Suppose the bank made the mistake the other way, credited you with $180 rather than $1,800? Would you ignore it? Of course not.
Tell them what happened - but don't expect any reward. You'll be lucky if they say thanks.

It is a mistake that the bank will reverse when it discovers it. You cannot keep the erroeously credited funds. It would be good of you to point out to the bank that they made this error.

Trust me, the bank will find it and take it back. Do not go spending that money. You'll be in a world of trouble if you do. Read the link below. You can be charged with theft if you decide to try to spend it all.

Let them know. Federal law allows them to come after you for the money forever. However the same federal law gives you only 60 days to recover if the mistake goes the other way. Our government hard at work to protect you. (NOT) Always check your statements.
