Thinking about a job relocation to this area. Just wondering what its like there. How friendly the people are? Night life? cost of living ? Rentals. Thanks for any help.

the nightlife is okay - nothing overly NY-ish. people are pretty friendly and there is a flux of notherners. cost of living is pretty high -- go to one of those salary comparrision sites. the one nice thing - no state taxes!! they were doing a lot of construction recently but.... the traffic is pretty nutty during rush hour. the humidity is a bit much in the summer but the rest of the seasons are GREAT. renting - depends on the area. home buying - quite the challenge -- homeowners and rentalinsurance is it a premium and it's often hard to GET the insurance due to the hurricanes. they had a good '06. we're going through "cold" weather now which is good - the colder the ocean stays - the better!

There are far too many New Yorkers in this area. Further, many many retirees live in Palm Beach County (and reflect it in their driving). The schools vary from almost inner-city to really quite OK. The entire road system is set to a grid. And we have three airports w/in two hours (Palm Beach Int'l, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami).
Hope this helps.
