well my answer is like the rest, yes sharm is safe. The question is why is it considered safe?

1- Sharm is heavily guarded by the police
2- Sharm El Sheikh's geography makes it hard to peneterate since it is serrounded by mountains followed by plain land, which makes it hard for anyone without a permit to enter without being seen.
3- All roads to sharm are heavily guarded
4- Most major local & regional political meetings and conferences take place in sharm. This simply means authrities are paying special attention to its security.
5- There was only 1 past incident and ever since then not even a petty crime. Sharm is unique and is one of the region's hottest tourist destinations. Any blow to sharm, means a severe blow to the egyptian economy.
6- Sharm has the lowest rate of crime in the entire country.

It is safe, hope the above helps you better understand why it is.

Cheers

Sharm El Sheik and anywhere else in Egypt, is just as safe as anywhere in this world we live in.Probably safer, in many ways because of the constant presence of Tourist and Military Police.
But they are only there to make you feel safe, and know that your interest is being watched over.
It is because Egypt relies so much on the tourism industry for it economy. That a lot of emphasis is placed on ensuring that the thousands of tourists who arrive each day feel and are protected. The incident that occurred last year at Sharm was unfortunate, as it was actually related to another matter, and had nothing to do with attempting to harm or scare away tourists.
Just some regional hotheads who's actions of retribution got out of control and tourists and many locals were hurt.
They were quickly found, identified and dealt with within a few days.
Remember Egypt has many hundreds thousand tourists visit each year.
Personally I can honestly say that I feel as just as safe, when I am in Egypt, than I do in Melbourne Australia.
As I said to begin,Sharm, and anywhere in Egypt is as safe as anywhere else you could choose to travel
Just enjoy, and that you certainly will!
