ok i have a stinkweed imp whose effect is whenever it deals damage to a creature destroy the creature.....now if it is blocking a 3/3 trample and my imp is a 1/2 will the damge from the attacking monsters trample still cause me damage?....or if a 4/4 is attacking my 5/3 will i lose damage then?

Creature abilities involving combat usually aren't applied until damage has been applied. So you would take 1 Trample damage and then both creature would die. As for your second example, both creatures will simply die. No damage is applied to you unless you didn't block a creature or the creature you blocked has Trample. Go here http://www.wizards.com/magic/rules/MTG9EDRulebook_EN.pdf and read this. It explains the Combat Phase in easy to understand terms. It can be confusing to even the most expert of players.

In example one, here is the breakdown:
Declare Blockers Step: You declare stinky as a blocker.
Combat Damage Step: The attacker chooses where trample damage goes; he will choose 2 for the imp and one to you (he could choose to damage the imp for 3 and you for 0, but that would be pointless.) At the same time, the imp damages the 3/3 for 1. Right now damage is "on the stack," but nothing has actually been dealt damage yet.
Damage Resolves: Stinky dies and you take one point of damage. At the same time, the triggered ability of Stinkweed Imp goes onto the stack, and can be responded to with spells or abilities. When the ability resolves, the 3/3 dies.

In the second example, both creatures die and you take 1.

Yes, it will cause 1 point of trample damage. The attacking monster dies after damage is calculated.

Same with 4/4 and 5/3. (if the 4/4 has trample)
