Try stool softeners, drink alot of water, eat dark leafy greens and get fiber in your diet. Laxitives are highly discouraged in pregnancy. If you do decide you need them contact your doctors office and do not take them until the doctor okays it.

Yes I did, I took metamucil pills and Stool Softeners pills.
I have IBS which is a constipation problem and if I have to much iron I get constipated but the problem is my iron level is always really low and once in a while it will cause me to get dizzy and pass out, I deal with this every couple of months. When I got pregnant I was passing out once, sometimes twice a week because the little iron I was getting was going to the baby so my Iron level was very low and it was causing me to faint so the doctor put me on Iron pills and I did not faint anymore after that but within a few weeks I was constipated badly. The doctor then put me on metamucil pills and thoseStool Softener pills and I was totally fine threwout the rest of my pregnancy.

Colace (Docusate Sodium) 100mg is the low strength, 250mg is the Most Popular.
Colace has been one of the only proven safe pills for women during pregnancy as far as constipation goes.
It is not a laxative, but it is a Stool Softener which is actually better for her because its will make her more regular if she takes it on a daily basis.
You can get it over the counter at any drug store.

Your doctor will tell you exactly which laxatives are safe for you to take. But I was told to take Citracel when I was pregnant and drank apple or prune juice. I'm not sure if they sell it in pill form now or not though.

Probably not a good idea. Apples, green veggies, peanuts, lots of water, prunes -- These all work and you will feel a lot better than if you take pill form.
