I coach an all girl's youth basketball team. My problem is that I'm running out of music to play to them before games to help them relax. I can't get them to calm down to actually listen to what I have to say, and they're just going wild before each game. I played to them these Japanese slow songs such as Yume no Uta/ Futari de... by Koda Kumi or Heaven by Ayumi Hamasaki. They seemed to respond to the music very well so I was wondering what other songs are similar to these. I only want Japanese for now since that
is working really well. Any music in the J - Pop genre would be great from female artists such as Utada Hikaru, etc., would be great.

Please only J - Pop music which is Japanese Pop music by Japanese female artists. The girls on the basketball team respond to that type of music the most so please no American music. I know that classical music works too, but these girls are just 12 - 13 years old. They want to listen to the type of music they like, and they like J - Pop.

If you are looking for RELAXING music then, IMO, it shouldn't be music that your athletes can get into, it should be background music that soothes without being noticed. Music that "they like" would probably STIMULATE rather than RELAX.

You may want to look into New Age; Soundscapes and background music for reiki, meditation, healing and other alternative therapy, such as:

Dean Raskin - Fading Glow - Sunset-deep relaxation
In Credo - Angels With You - Wellness+Beauty
Llewellyn/Robin Butterfield - Moonlight - Healing Massage
Llewelyn - Journey - Journey To Our Dreams
Deuter/Aaron Luttrel - Reiki Mix 1

how about "Stellar" by Incubus, or "Aqueous Transmission" by incubus? they both sound kinda japanese-ish as far as the background music goes.....thats what I listen to but I'm a high school player and idk if that really makes a difference..and im a girl too so yeah......Maybe you should put an iron fist down if they wont listen? it will be good for them in the future
