Hi the new Vista is very stable and a huge jump forward from xp,i use all operating systems including different Linux based systems..all have there good points and bad,Ive been using vista 32 bit (the best option just for now) for about a month and i have put it through its paces.. i have ripped music while watching a movie plus virus scanning at the same time and not a glitch..now for all the people crying like little babies about vista try getting a computer capable of running it instead of upgrading your dinosaurs.. half of you probably cried when you had to start using Xp from 98,ME,2000.. Stop whining and just get on with it.. Buy an xbox or something please and leave the people who enjoy moving forward alone..PS do you all still live in caves instead of houses because you dont like the colour of the bricks,or ride bicycles because they have 2 less tyres than cars and are cheaper to run..sorry for getting off track but yes if you want to try it,in my opinion its worth it.. some issues with drivers but that was the same for xp when it first came out..VERY STABLE AND MUCH FASTER..steve..Hey the answer above about the HP that wont work,.If you bought a car then the tyre people said we dont have tyres for it just yet would you moan to the car people or the people who make the tyres..or is this too hard of a question for ya..

Avoid it for as long as you can get away with it.

Music and video. Hardly any of the video I created on my cam that I used to play on Linux and XP will play at all on Vista. Fortunately I still have Linux to play them, without that they simply can not be seen.

Music, any music that was not bought through MSN doesn't play, you get the message saying it can not prove you had a licence to play it. Again, without the Linux I would had no access to that music, which I have paid for but not through MSN.

The videos that will play are those I made threw Windows Movie Maker on XP. Bu I can not reuse these in new Media Movies. It lets me add them and play them in the storyboard, then goes through the motions of creating the DVD. These older videos are just blanks in new video I make them a part of.

Crashes, I have had loads. Notthing specific, it is very random.

I splashed out a lot of money on the HP Pavilion, mainly because I have Linux on a checper machine in the same family that works very well. This one is the worst I have had for years, I suspect that if I put XP or Linux on it it would be a great PC.

There is nothing on this PC that wasn't on it the day I bought it. I have tried to buy a couple of games and a better web cam, none of these worked. Even my HP printer will not work, HP says the vista driver is not available.

This Vista is nowhere near ready for home use.

We partitioned a separate hard drive to try it out. I love it. It's got the interface of a Mac, almost. The problems I had were with third-party programs like daemon tools. Vista won't let you install it. Vista won't let you do anything to it that it doesn't deem safe. Overall, you are handing over a lot of control. However, you will find that the mystery in which order to download programs and install software is gone! If there is a conflict, Vista won't let you do it or will ask you if you are sure. Heh, I felt as though Vista was one step away from HAL!! You may think it suspicious or you may think it is so wonderful. Just depends on what kind of user you are.

Trust me it's not good for the moment, it doest not support anything since everythings are made for window 98, 200 or XP and there are lots of bugs too, just wait for 5-6 months till the bugs are fixed and they find someway to make things work well together. Microsoft are always hurried for reasling things out that's what happend with XP many years ago.

Hope it helped

Junky...

There are all kinds of issues that Microsoft has not worked out. People are comparing it to Windows ME. If you remember how awful that was. (it was basically rushed out around the millenium for sales) Vista looks awesome, but its annoying because it asks you yes or no questions about 4 times for each action...

Are you sure your sure?

It looks pretty cool but it seems that Microsoft is going to have a lot of work cut out for them on taking away all the negative attention its getting from it. They're going to have to try 10x harder next time. I can't believe Microsoft crashed out the holiday season computer buying for that crud.

If you're talking preview or test drive then I recommend heading down to a store like Comp USA where they usual have the running computers on display.

I would wait for a little while. The platform is fun kind of like apple fun. But the main home is cluttered with buttons and too many options. It is a terrible system.

The main appeal is that it has a higher security and has tons of personal options.

Good Luck
