Wacked out homeless people (not their fault, of course). Depressed people. Obsessive compulsives. Borderline Personality Disorder. Psychopathic serial killers. Predatory gangs. Rapists. Pedophiles. Wacked out celebrities. Ann Coulter. (she should be committed to a mental hospital. Instead she's always popping up on cable TV). Even one of the astronauts has a screw loose. These problems have always existed. We hear more about them now. Fortunately, people don't get "locked up in mental hospitals" like they did in the past. Instead of slamming people, society needs to stick together, be aware and HELP them!

Stress, divorce, wars, gangs, etc. etc., all these problems have known to add to difficulties that people seem to be unable to cope with.

We sometimes get a skewed perspective on the number of crazies because of the media's tendency to play and replay idiosyncratic actions and feelings.

Additionally, we as a culture seem to delight in this type of news.

So, we are getting what we want.

However, I noticed a worst trait in the D.C. area. The local media hardly ever covered crime in downtown D.C.

Their attitude was if you don't see it on the local news, you won't be outraged by it.

However, I doubt Americans, however televized and gun-crazy, have the monopoly on madness.
