The only think the US could have done to prevent WWII would be to insist that the treaty of Versaille had not been so unfair to germany and thus prevented the rise of hitler.. short of that.. assasinating hitler could have been good.. but americans actually quite liked the nazis until they were forced to enter the war because of pearl harbour

President Woodrow Wilson could have been more forceful at the Treaty of Versailles.
But the people of the United States would not have been very motivated to engage troops on European/Asian soil unless attack. The world and the US had plenty of opportunity to put an early stop to it. The Japanese Sunk an US gunboat in China, we made excuses. We should have stopped the Japanese when they went into China, the Italians when they went into Ethiopia, or when Hitler demanded part of Czechoslovakia. At any point just the involvement of the United States and the Determination to fight might have changed things. The Japanese did not want war with the United States, in Germany and Italy the risk or war with the US might have toppled the German, Italian, governments.
Look what is happening today. The Iraqi dictatorship violated the terms of the cease fire agreement of 1992 and yet the US is viewed as imperialistic, and that Iraq did ot really pose a threat. Hitler did not pose a threat in 1936 either.

Their was a point that could have stop the war in Europe and Japan. If the Treaty of Versailles was not that mean to Germany and all allies were treated equally, then maybe the second world war would have not happened. Germany was forced to take the whole gilt of the war, pay back the allies till1987, and get striped of their own land to make countries for other people. Germans were placed in other counties. The Germans said that everyone got Self Determination (People chose what country they want to live in) but us. Italy and Japan were allies to US, France, and Britain. The problem was that France and Britain took most of the spoils of war and short changed the others. It was a bitter pill that many nations swallowed and help create WWII

Nothing to PREVENT the war. It was created in Europe and caused to a great extent by the unfair terms of the Treaty of Versailles (WWI). So, in a sense, the peace terms of one war started another war.
The U.S. didn't want to get involved...who wants to lose family and friends....but we had no choice after Pearl Harbor.

The U. S. tried to stay out as long a possible, I don't remember the name of the fat boy in England that lied and sucked us into it in Europe and then the Japs attacked our military base in Hawaii, to have an attack on Hawaii was unbelievable, so it was hard to think it could happen...
