if you are buying it from a pet supermarket then i would say yes it has the scent gland removed and is fixed. chances are that the ferret you are buying is a Marshall ferret and they also have a tiny tatoo on one of their ears. why not just ask the seller if they are fixed and scented. and also feel lucky you are only paying 109. dollars our ferrets here in ohio just went up to 140. a piece. also know that if you are getting an ferret that is not fixed then it still has a scent gland. get it fixed before it is 6 months old because after that the vet will not take the scent glands out because it is a major surgery then and it will harm the muscles in the butt and that is not good for any ferret!!

The ferret will have 2 blue dots tattooed on its ear. One means it was neutered the other means it was descented.

It seems as though you could use to do some research about these animals. Ferrets are not easy to care for and need a lot of attention and care. They are also not cheap to maintain. I would hate to see you make a mistake. I would also hate to see your ferret miserable because it has an unknowledgeable owner. Pick up a few books about the little fuzzers or cruise around on-line for more info before you decide to purchase one.

All ferrets are sold being spayed/neutered & decented.

I used to breed them before the law required they be spayed/neutered & decented before sale to the public. They will still have a pretty strong odor (musk) even after the scent glands are removed.

The gland are simlar to the canine scent gland, the skunk, mink and several others. The skunk sprays his, the dog coats his poop with it, the ferrets oozes out and is smeared on, as does the mink, otter etc.

Most of the ferrets available in the US come from Marshall farms. Check the ears for little tattoos. This will confirm that they're from Marshall. All ferrets from this company are spayed, neutered, and de-scented. They will still have a musky odor, though. That is about the average price for a ferret.

hello,no it probably most likely means it hasn't been takin off! you can't take it off a ferret w/ a request in some places because it might cause diseases, this smell gland helps the ferret in many ways and its meant there for a cause!
so i don't think its been removed. =)
a ferret is an excellent choice for a pet but make sure it doesnt get lost in the house , cuz there curious animals! =)

Yes, $108 dollars is the government set mark for the highest price a stinky ferret can be.
