I drive a Taxi, and being UK White, the passengers will comment that its nice to see a white guy!
They forget that the "darker skinned" person got them home last week and sustained verbal abuse in his cab etc etc.
They forget they go for a "ruby" after a skin full of beer, and who makes it for them!
Being a white driver, I always remind them of this, and it shuts them up instantly!
no discussion.............does that make them cowards??!!

You are a hero in my book! :) And yes, to answer your question, they are indeed without a doubt "cowards!" Thank you for reminding them that "color" is a non issue especially when it comes to something as simple as transportation! :)

Smart move on your part Tony :) The UK is weird when it comes to skin color, probably that whole "White Man's Burden" thing in the culture. But with people like you around I know things will get better. It's good to hear that.

Bravo for standing up for your fellow humans, people like to say that ignorance is bliss, but to me ignorance is stupidity. People who make racist comments or classify people in certain categories in life because of the color of their skin are ignorant.
and to the person that says they just don't know keep living in your dream world it might get better for ya

I guess because most taxi drivers are mid-easterns. I guess it is rare to see a white guy.

You have a very good point, I have never been racist, but it something that will never stop, i think they are cowards to a point, its easy to comment about someone behind their back, but good for you putting them in their place

Ihave never seen a white cabbie... well, actually I see them driving Airport Limo's and are Airport Cabbies.
Maybe thats why you get the comments. I feel you though

People who are racist are just afraid of the unknown! And maybe some are jealous or they have had bad things happen to them i was joking on the jealous part
