is it expensive to live in seattle, comparing other big cities?

I've lived in Boston, the DC area and Seattle, and I've found that Seattle is slightly less expensive. A house or condo in the city will still be fairly pricey, but there are a lot of people who move to Seattle from San Francisco because houses are cheaper.
