I hate to break it to you but this would not be allowed under the Constitution of the United States. The process and time for the election of a President is very clearly stated and spelled out. The first Tuesday of November in 2008 will be the next Presidential election, the next President will take office on January 20, 2009, and be elected by the majority of the electoral votes in the electoral college.

Abdicate? Since when did the President become a king? He would have to resign to leave office and then the Vice President would become President, which at the moment is Dick Cheney. The President can't just decide to hand pick the guy he wants to be President. You would think you'd know a little bit about how the government works with all your opinions about it.
