I was working at an amusement park when 2 roller coaster trains crashed into one another, the brakes having failed on the incoming train.

The injuries were not devestating, but that feeling of helplessness, standing there watching the trains hurtle at one another, hearing the people screaming...it still makes me hurt to this day so for me that will always be the worst accident.

There seem to be a lot of urban legends regarding amusement park and roller coaster accidents. Here's a list of roller coaster accidents only.

I don't know what the worst one was, but the funniest is when Fabio was riding the Apollo's Chariot coaster at Busch Gardens and took a goose to the face at 60 mph.

When I was 10 we were going to go on one more ride, and we didn't at the last minute. The car went off the tracks and 2 people plunged to their death, because the ride had no seatbelts.

that was like 20+ years ago.

I think the worst one was the one that happened on Thunder Mountain at Disneyland when a seatbelt came off and flung a couple passengers to their death.

I would say the Mindbender Rollercoaster crash at West Edmonton Mall's Galaxyland would rank up there. 3 people were killed when a car came loose and threw them out during a loop.

i guess it would have to be the decapitation on the dragon coaster at playland in rye, ny. wow after reading http://www.rideaccidents.com/coasters.html it's seems that word of mouth really distorts events... i never even heard the chewing gum scenario. i heard that some lady was trying to remove her coat, after the ride just took off, she got stuck out of the seat when they went into the tunnel with the dragons head, and her head was lopped off
