Sounds like your wife and you need to reach common ground. I understand that financial factors are involved, but its cheaper for her to be on birth control than it is for you to have a vascectomy.
So it works both ways.
This needs to be your decision though. A lot of us women are always crying about our bodies being "our decision" and nobody elses.
It does sound like your wife is trying to make sure that you guys don't get pregnant, but there are other ways to go about it rather than hacking up your bodies with surgeries.
Has she considered an IUD, (contraceptive insert). They are hormone free and still just as affective as birth control?
I would talk to her a little bit more on this subject and talk with a birth control specialist about better options for the both of you.
I would never want my husband to feel that his manhood is being taken away, but i do say that both of you need to talk it out more.

She is correct. A vasectomy is the most cost effective form of birth control.
If you got a vasectomy on Friday, you would be back to work on Monday. You would be fully functional in 4 days. A vasectomy is quick and simple.
If your wife chooses to get female sterilization, she would be off work for at least 3 weeks, and not fully functional for about three weeks after that. The surgery is much more involved.
In what way is it taking your manhood? Grow up. Had you planned on going around knocking up other women. Manhood is about responsibility, and not about your ability to knock up a woman.
I had mine when I was 21. I am over 40 now. The vasectomy was the greatest choice I ever made. My sex life improved. Why, because I never worry about getting anyone pregnant. I have no scar, and have never suffered any side effects at all. I know a dozen other men that can tell you exactly the same.
Honestly, if a vasectomy was robbing you of your manhood, why would millions of men be getting them?
Some men have problems. But that is only psychological. A vasectomy can’t physically harm you. It is no more traumatic than a trip to the dentist, or getting a tattoo.

Stop having sex, that's the BEST alternative. After all it is considered safer for the guy. It is easier. She says cheaper, which wouldn't surprise me. Should anything happen it actually can be reversed. Either that or tell her the truth. You could tell her how you are selfish as well. You are worried she is taking your manhood? Come on man she is your wife. What are you REALLY worried about? What you want to be able to run off with some other woman? If you are REALLY worried that it would "take your manhood" then rather then seeing a doctor I think you need to see a marriage counselor. BTW would you rather she get her tubes tied? Would you rather take away her womanhood, since that would be a fair comparison?

having a woman tubes tied is major surgery compared to a vasectomy..
I will say a vasectomy does not always work... I am pregnant after my hub had his vasectomy 1 1/2 yrs ago, it was a total shock to both of us and especially him, luckily he had faith in me when questions arose of infidelity and we went to the doctors to have his semen rechecked, and sure enough he was deemed very fertile, we suspect his vas deferens had regrown back.... Sure shut up the doctors that had any suspicions of me...
I would recommend that she get her tubes tied but that is not 100% either..
I will say that I hear allot that orgasms feel better when a man has had a vasectomy, my hub included but that feeling disappeared and now we know why, when the vas deferrens grew back it was releasing the sperm, so it was giving him full release....

My husband had the procedure for the exact reasons you are stating.
He wasn't in any pain the day after and took Tylenol the day of.
Use a bag of frozen peas on the site the day of, they will conform to your body shape and
DO relax the day of and the next day to eliminate later pain.
My hausband wanted the procedure though cause we have 5 kids and that's enough. He says now we can have as much fun as we want without the worry. It has helped our sex like, but if you are unsure wait before doing anything permenent.
If you have doubts as to whether this relationship will last or if you are unsure that you have all the kids you want.

Had the same problem....here's the deal: It is unlikely that a vasectomy will cause any impotence problems due to the physical procedure....but your FEAR of it, might. That's why I didn't even after we had all the kids we wanted. Maybe SHE isn't totally sure she won't want kids later on and is hesitant...

well you need to sit down and talk to her. Take her with you to a doctor and talk about the process. THen you can go with her to a doctor to about the process of her getting her tubes tied. But you have to point out to her that jsut because your freidns are doing it doesn;t mean that its right for you. I have no idea on the process of either but you must take it seriously and dont just put it off. Talk to your doctors and friends see what they sat about it. Good Luck
