My Fiancee' works at a group home for "special kids" (known in slang among the staff as a "tard farm"). She is often on call when anything unusual happens. Well our home life has been absolute crap lately because she keep having to go in at all hours . It seems that the latest "fad" among the residents is pulling the fire alarm. It all happened stemmed from one time when they were all lined up to go out for ice cream, and one resident pulled the fire alarm in front of everyone. The residents were amused by the sight of the fire engines ,sirens ,etc. The resident who did the false alarm goes around now saying proudly "da..I puuulled it..." over and over again. And you know the old saying "monkey see monkey do". Well they (the handicapped) are all doing it now.

What can I do. I told my fiancee' to just disable the alarm and take her chances. Update: The home has recently come under scrutiny for substandard nutrition among other things!

Seriously?
DO NOT UNPLUG THE ALARM! EVER!
You will be closed down, fined and prosecuted. As it seems so amusing, disabled or not, IT IS ILLEGAL to maliciously set off fire alarms. Ask the police to talk to the residents.
I would recommend this:
Have an alarm sytem NOT connected directly to the fire station, have it up to the manager/ other staff to call them, which will reduce the call outs.
That's a bit of a problem, but you should suggest that whenever the alarm rings, a member of staff should go and see where and if there is a fire.

Good luck - glad its not me!

She should take a moment to think of about the horrific consequences of disabling the fire alarm of a home filled with vulnerable people and then get another job. This isn't the right work for her.

The treatment center needs to cover the alarm system with a barrier. We have a screen-like device over the alaram system that is easily accessible to those who know which corner to pull.

It's against the law to disable it.

Hi,
I'm following a system to improve my vision with simple eye exercises. I found it on this site http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=413. I'm starting seeing very positive (and unexpected) results.
Check it out.
I hope it helps
