Michigan is far too large for many students, who feel lost in the crowd. Your teachers are likely to be graduate students in many of the basic courses. Some of the students, particularly first-years, are there to party, so dorm life is not quiet and studious.
Recommend somewhere smaller unless you went to a mega-high school and can deal with being one of thousands of first-year students.
