i have a 2003 mitsubishi eclipse spyder gts
i love it but lately it seems when i am on the highway at about 50-65 miles an hour it shakes real bad for a while then once i het 70 or so it is either gone or much less. someone said it could be the drive shaft if it is how much does that cost to replace? or what is your opinion? thanks!

Tire balance thats all.
drive shaft would cause shakes at all speed ranges.
bad tires can usually be felt at low speeds.
alignment itself never fixes shakes.
worn out front end parts can cause shakes BUT it would not stop just by hitting 70 or so.

if tire balancing does not fix find a new place to get them balanced correctly.

That would have nothing to do with the drive shaft. The problem has more to do with your suspension. Get your tires balanced and if that doesnt work get your alignment checked.

check the wheel balance first. mag wheels can lose the weights very easy. second inspect the tie rods, ball joints, and wheel bearings

It's not the drive shaft. Piemat has it right.
