Scandisk is built into the Windows operating system. Go to My Computer, Choose Local Disk C (Or whatever disk) and Right Click. From the pick list, choose properties -- Under the Tools tab, pick Error-Checking. This was once-upon-a-DOS called scandisk. It still performs the same function -- checking the disk for errors.

Scan disk is not formatted for any windows system created beyond Windows 98. If your using your boot drive it will use scandisk automatically, but not your windows based software.

if you are running XP scandisk has been replaced by chkdsk. open start, run and type cmd. at the command prompt, type chkdsk and it will check your fs. if it finds errors run chkdsk /f to fix errors. it will ask if you want to run it on next boot. type Y and reboot the computer

If you are having problems booting up your Windows 98 you can boot up in MS-Dos mode and type in scanreg/restore
Follow the instructions and restart your computer and an earlier date before it started giving you problems...CAPICHE!!

Please clarify the question. Do you want to find scan disk inside your operating software or a separate software for the task? Secondly please mention the Operating system you are using with your PC specifications.
