I will have to go with more contemporary names (although Darwin is probably a "face" to biology)
Mine will be James Watson and Francis Crick they discovered the structure of DNA which was a huge breakthrough and has allowed the field of biotechnology to expand so vastly and answer questions in new and innovative ways.
(although their contribution was one in a long line of discovery of DNA as the genetic material and Griffith, MacLeod, et. al deserve a ton of credit too and Rosalind Franklin's work with Watson and Crick is often overlooked as well)

i think it has to be charles darwin, though someone has mentioned gane goodall, she too is very famous but i think darwin takes the lead.
