I'm having a bit of a debate.. I think it's "personification," and the other party does not agree but is unsure as to what it is called. Any help would be appreciated!

It could be considered both anthropomorphism and/or personification.
Personification is giving any non-human thing human characteristics... anthropomorphism is just more specific, by making it animals alone.
So yes, you're correct in saying it is personification.

Yes, it is personification, because you are making the animal to be like a "person"

properly, the version is that human beings fairly CAN growl. that's seen an animal OR a human sound. that's as adversarial asserting something like "animals have been speaking" while, for sure, they weren't. All i'm able to think of of is that that's in simple terms referred to as "granting animal attributes." i won't be able to think of of a single be conscious to describe it, nevertheless that does no longer mean one would not exist. If somebody have been to assert something like "he replaced into harry as a undergo," it can be a simile/metaphor... and that i think like they could evaluate statements like "he's a undergo" to be a metaphor besides. i assume the subject is that animals at the instant are unable to many human attributes, on the same time as human beings ARE able to maximum animal attributes.
