WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Authorities Friday were looking for the mother of a baby girl whose remains were found in a two gallon pickle jar buried near a highway.

A construction crew discovered the jar Monday while working on State Road 80, according to a statement from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

The baby's umbilical cord was still attached, and the medical examiner's office thinks the jar was buried within the last year after an autopsy.

The medical examiner's office was running tests to figure out how and when the girl died, according to the sheriff's office.

Of course it does. As harsh as this may sound, this baby was treated no worse than any aborted baby.

It sends the clear message that the life of an "inconvenient child" can be treated like worthless trash.

The parents of aborted children and other supporters' consciences are appeased because they don't actually have to face (i.e. see) the horrific death these children suffer.

What if every mother (and father that supports it) were required to actually actually see what happens to their child? How would that affect the abortion and possibly unwanted pregnancy rate?

"If this woman's mother had aborted her, this never would have happened. I'm pro-abortion. Everyone should have to get one once a year, whether they need one or not."

WHAT?! You're telling me every woman should get pregnant just to have an abortion EVERY YEAR? How would any children be born?

I'm not sure what kind of label that response deserves...

In any event, children aren't made to look cheap- fetuses are. The understanding would be that, for some reason or another, they aren't "life" before they leave the vagina.

...

That said, I'm not so sure that our culture is "Pro-Abortion"; in fact, I'm pretty sure it's Anti-Abortion more than anything else.

You are way off base, first of all, this poor baby would not have had to have been left for dead had the women had an abortion in the first place. Second all, doesn't it make children's lives more meaningful to know that they were wanted and were born at a time that the parents felt was the best opportunity to raise a family. I don't feel it is right to assign a value to a child but if anything abortions raise the value of children.

Of course. Child abuse has increased expotentially since abortion was legalized. From http://www.deathroe.com/Pro-life_Answers/Answers.cfm?ID=69:

"The fact is, since abortion was made legal in 1973, we have killed unborn children by the tens of millions yet child abuse has increased dramatically. According to the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, in 1973, there were 167,000 cases of child abuse reported in the United States. In 2002, the Department of Health and Human Services reported 1,694,756 child abuse investigations in the United States. In 450,817 cases, the abuse was confirmed, and in another 58,964 it was determined that abuse was “indicated.”

Some of this 10-fold increase in child abuse could be due to better reporting, but better reporting could not possibly explain an increase of this magnitude. There is no other rational conclusion but that our country has suffered a staggering increase in child abuse since we legalized abortion. That fact demands that we force the pro-choice gang to answer one very simple question. If legalized abortion reduces child abuse by making sure that every child is a wanted child – and since you’ve executed between 45 and 50 million children so far – where did all these children who are being abused today come from?"

Also, "...Abortion is itself the ultimate example of child abuse...the right to life of a human being is not determined by whether or not some other human being wants them. There are many born people in the world who we could label as unwanted, but that doesn’t mean we can kill them. As for abortion, wantedness is a function of the humanity and character of the mother. It has absolutely nothing to do with the right to life of her child.

...This idea of preventing child abuse which might occur sometime in the future by executing the potential victims today, makes about as much sense as trying to eradicate wife-beating by executing all married women.

This issue also assumes that unwanted pregnancies always produce unwanted children. The truth is that even among women whose pregnancies were the most unwanted, it is rare for them not to want their baby.

Further, there is no evidence that unplanned – or even unwanted – children are any more likely to be abused than planned or wanted ones. To the contrary, in 1980, Professor Edward Lenoski at the University of Southern California studied over 600 cases of child abuse. He found that in over 90% of these cases, the parents said that the child they abused had been a wanted child."

If abortion were not safe and legal, the number of "dumpster babies" would rise dramatically. Many more women/girls would feel helpless and give birth alone and scared, in unsanitary conditions. Many more babies would be abandoned by the side of the road, or born with severe defects because of the costs of hiding a pregnancy (severe malnutrition, possible drug and alcohol use, etc).

I dontg get it, why is everybody so anti abortion ? It isnt women in loving families who abort. I dont have antything against christians, in fact Iam catholic, but seriously thinking you can pick up the result of ooopsie pregancies of party hoes or career grrrls and then magically bring theit children back on the right path is delusional.
Down the toilet I say. Leave the world to the offspring of women who know how to behave.

Definitely. Since Roe, child abuse rates have gone up, you hear about Dumpster babies now...children are no longer considered blessings but burdens.

Now you have these weirdos who think that parents should be able to kill their child within a month of its birth. At least they see no difference between a preborn child and a child that's been born....

this is the stupidest back-up story I've ever seen.

we do not live in a pro-abortion culture. we live in a pro-choice culture- we let people choose who to run their lives, abortions included.

and children are very cherished- fetuses are not children

what that lady did was wrong. she should have had an abortion, gave it up for adoption, or dropped it off at a fire station

I really don't understand how this article can be used within a question asking about "pro-abortion" culture. Please don't misunderstand me, this is not meant as a hostile comment.
